Fable Terrace Downs Resort offers golfers the opportunity to play a unique high country 18-hole championship golf course. The rewarding par 72 course designed by Sid Puddicombe offers a choice of four tees on each hole. The spectacular views pose a constant challenge for players to keep their eye on the ball! *All motorised golf cart drivers must be over 18 years of age and possess a current driver's license.
Beyond golf, soak up the exquisite views or hone a new skill! A myriad of activities are at your doorstep from archery to claybird shooting, walking trails, hunting or fishing and the natural wonders of the region.
Sustainability
Fable Terrace Downs Resort exemplifies its dedication to ecological restoration. In collaboration with the Fantail Trust, the resort is actively working towards a predator-free environment in the coming years.
This initiative involves strategically placing pest traps across the golf course and accommodation areas, leading to a remarkable resurgence of fantails in the vicinity.
Simultaneously, the extensive replanting of native trees in the vicinity of the golf course and adjacent lands aims to create a flourishing habitat for a diverse bird community, including fantails, bellbirds, and grey warblers, thereby enhancing the experience for golfers and visitors at Terrace Downs.
Fable Terrace Downs Resort has also collaborated with Selwyn Council and City Care on the "Rakaia Gorge Weed Control Project." Craig Middleton, Golf Course Manager, plays an active role in this endeavour. The Greens team is dedicated to removing noxious weeds and non-native trees, such as cherry trees, from the golf course. Meanwhile, the council team is working on eliminating sycamore trees from the scrub area along the riverbanks. In a noteworthy contribution to environmental conservation, Environment Canterbury (Ecan) recently gifted 400 native plants and trees to the resort. These plants and trees will serve as replacements for non-native vegetation on the golf course and throughout the resort.
